Paddler Parking Lot

This is what it's all about. Just like the real parking lot, this is the place to shoot the breeze and talk trash. Just keep it clean!

Paddler Parking Lot

Postby bdk » Mon May 13, 2013 12:57 pm

The lot is open for business. We are still working on getting the parking lot in the condition that we feel will keep out unwanted guests. The lot should be complete in the next couple of weeks. In the mean time we can start parking in the lot.

Keys will cost $50 for annual access. You can send a check or money order made out to Andrew Grizzell. Mail check/money order to: 208 Dove Nest Court, West Columbia SC 29170. Include a self addressed stamped envelope and your key and sticker will be mailed back to you. The other option will be to pick one up at the lot on the designated days listed at a later time. Keys will start to be issued when the gate is put in place. Feel free to park in the lot. After the gate is installed you will have to have paid your yearly dues to park in the lot.

Key Rentals will be available as well. Daily use fee will be $10.

Any questions regarding the parking lot, rules, work days, fees, etc can be emailed to saludaparkinglot@gmail.com

Saluda River Watch rules of Membership:

1. Buy a key and sticker (sticker must be displayed on the car at all times)

2. No loaning and/or copying your key

3. You are responsible for your guests’ actions

4. If your key is being used, you must be present

5. Do not damage the property; if you do it will result in loss of key access.

6. Park in appropriate parking places; do not block the gate or access road.

7. Clean up your trash. Pack it in, Pack it out

8. No co-owning a key

9. Mandatory clean up and/or work days. Must attend one work day a year.

10. Key dates are from April to April

11. Lock gate behind you! Every time!!! No dummy locking the gate

12. Key owners only. Do not let anyone else in the gate unless you have seen their key and it works the lock properly.

13. If you have a large private group (ie. Palmetto Paddlers, Boy Scouts, etc) you must contact a board member one week prior to the event for approval of the extra cars.

14. If you are paddling with someone from out of town who drives to the river separate than you, you must inform a board member of the extra vehicle.

15. No pets left in cars. Any pets left in cars may be subject to release by any available means to gain vehicle entrance, if their health is deemed in danger by a decision of a Board Member or member on watch duty. Pets must be under control at all times.

16. No transfer of keys. Period.

17. You are under the jurisdiction of all State of South Carolina laws.

18. Be mindful when changing clothes. No public drunkenness or rude behavior.

19. Access the river at your own risk

20. River access can be gained from this property ONLY by walking across the RR tracks at the Candi Lane RR crossing. No crossing of the tracks elsewhere will be tolerated.

20. No cars are to be left overnight (18 hr max limit)

21. No camping

22. Your key can be taken away for breaking any of the above stated rules by majority vote of the Board.

Remember that we are guests on the Mabry's land. Respect it and them. We are very fortunate to have this land for our own access. Also if you are using the lot for parking, remember that you will have to exit the river up near the powerlines. On river left at the very bottom of Millrace there is a rough trail that heads back up to Candi Lane. This trail should be used to get back to the parking lot instead of the trail at Fisherman's Rock. Using the trail at Fisherman's Rock will put our lot at risk. The only thing that they have asked of us is to not access the river from that location anymore due to legal concerns. On one of the next work days we can organize folks to trim and improve the trail from the bottom Millrace.

Once the Keys have been made we will shoot to have a meeting in the parking lot to go over all the rules and any questions/concerns anyone might have. Thanks
Andy

What still needs to be done, Andy?

I might be able to make it out before the meeting to put in some work.

Yeah, if I can make it there after work (off at 6, downtown) and before 7, will there be any work to do? i've still got my shovel, swing blade and mattock/axe in the trunk from when work was called off last time.

I want my key.

we just need to clean up the back side of the lot. that's about it though.
I will be in the lot around 4:30 slinging keys. I plan to be there several days next week as well. email saludaparkinglot@gmail.com and we will figure out how to get you your key.
